THE DICK VAN DYKE SHOW LIVING ROOM

The Dick Van Dyke Show is one of the most popular series of the 1960s.  The famous introduction to the show, in which Dick trips over the ottoman in his living is very memorable.  Here are some photos of Rob and Laura Petrie's living room.

Notice the two-tier wood blinds on the window.

THE BUNKER'S LIVING ROOM ON ALL IN THE FAMILY

Archie Bunker was very comfortable sitting in his favourite chair in the Bunker's living room.  The armchair is now in the permanent collection of the National Museum of American History, part of the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C.

There was even a 1977 episode of All in the Family entitled "Archie's Chair" (Season 7, Episode 17, Air Date: January 15, 1977).  In the episode, Mike (a.k.a. Meathead), accidentally breaks the chair. Although he gets it repaired, it somehow get thrown out and appears at an art exhibit.

  1. I remember that episode well. I grew up watching "All In The Family," and still love to watch it in re-runs.

  3. The boyfriend on "That Girl" was named Donald Hollinger and he was played by actor Ted Bessell. Ted died on October 6, 1996 of an aortic aneurysm. He was 61 years old at the time of his passing.

  4. These pictures reminds me of retro TV furniture installed in the living room in the home of my parents. We often used to sit together to watch our favourite shows while having snacks and tea.
