Dick Van Dyke, 98, has been nominated for a Daytime Emmy

98-year-old Dick Van Dyke has been nominated for a Daytime Emmy (He was born on December 13, 1925 in West Plains, Missouri).  As a longtime Van Dyke fan, I am delighted with the news. Dick is a master of physical comedy and a talented actor.  He is truly a living treasure.  The Dick Van Dyke Show, which ran from 1961 to 1966, is a classic, and one of my favourite sitcoms.  From 1971 to 1974.  Dick and Hope Lange co-starred in The New Dick Van Dyke Show   Dick also starred in another hit series, Diagnosis Murder, from 1993 to 2001.

At 98, Dick becomes the oldest person to earn an Emmy nomination.  He was nominated for his performance on the soap opera Days of our Lives, where her portrayed an elderly man with amnesia.  Of his role on the daytime drama, Dick said last year that he has played old men before, "but comedy old men." He added, "This is the first time I ever just played my 97-year-old self."

Congratulations, Dick, on your Daytime Emmy Nomination.  You still have a lot of life in you yet.  You have proven that 90 can be be the new 70.
